Exercise Physiology in Sydney

What We Do

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist is a university-qualified allied health professional who prescribes exercise as treatment. Not a personal trainer, not a physio — a different scope with a different purpose. We work with chronic conditions, injuries, disability and the general business of getting stronger, and every program is built for the person in front of us.

How It Starts

Everyone begins with an initial assessment. We take a history, test what needs testing, and work out what you’re actually able to do right now. You leave with a plan, not a pamphlet.

From there it’s individualised programming, reviewed and progressed as you go. Programs are delivered through an app so you’re not trying to remember what we said three weeks ago.

Who We Work With

Who we work with

Most people who come to us have been told to exercise by someone who didn’t tell them how. That’s the gap we fill.

Chronic and metabolic conditions
Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Exercise is frontline treatment for most of these, not a nice-to-have alongside medication. We build programs that account for what you’re taking, what your numbers are doing, and what you’ll realistically keep up.

Injury and post-surgical rehabilitation
Post-op knees, shoulders, hips and backs, plus the long tail of injuries that never quite resolved. We pick up where acute care finishes — restoring capacity, rebuilding strength, and getting you back to the thing you actually want to do rather than just out of pain.

Workers compensation and return to work
Injured at work and navigating the system. We do functional capacity evaluations, graded return-to-work programs, and the reporting that keeps insurers, case managers and your doctor on the same page. Programs are built around your actual job tasks, not generic exercises.

NDIS participants
Capacity building through movement — functional independence, strength, mobility and community participation. Goal-based programming with reporting that stands up to plan review.

Older adults
Strength, balance and falls prevention. The evidence is clear that older adults need meaningful load and progression, not three-kilo dumbbells indefinitely. We train people properly and safely, including for bone density where that’s the concern.

Persistent pain
When pain has outlasted the injury that caused it. Graded exposure, education and steady rebuilding of confidence in movement — done at a pace that doesn’t flare you.

Neurological conditions
Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and post-stroke rehabilitation, where exercise supports function, mobility and independence.

Cancer, during and after treatment
Exercise is now standard supportive care in oncology. We work around treatment schedules and fatigue rather than pretending they aren’t there.

General strength and conditioning
Not everyone comes in with a diagnosis. Some people just want to get stronger without guessing, or return to training after a long break, and want someone who knows what they’re doing to build the plan.

How It Gets Funded

Most people are eligible for some form of funding and don’t know it. Worth checking before you assume you’re paying full freight.

Medicare care plans
If you have a chronic condition, your GP can put you on a Chronic Disease Management plan, which covers a set number of allied health sessions each calendar year. You need the GP to initiate it — we can’t. Have the conversation at your next appointment, bring the referral in, and we’ll handle the rest. The plan covers part of the session cost and you pay the difference.

NDIS
Exercise physiology sits under capacity building and is fundable through most plans. We work with participants, families, support coordinators and plan managers, and provide the reporting that plan reviews require. Get in touch with your plan details and we’ll confirm what’s covered before you commit to anything.

Workers compensation
If you’re on an accepted claim, exercise physiology is generally funded by the insurer and you shouldn’t be out of pocket. You’ll need a referral from your nominated treating doctor. We handle the approvals, reporting and communication with your case manager so you’re not chasing paperwork on top of recovering.

DVA
White and Gold Card holders can access exercise physiology through a referral from their GP. Depending on your card and accepted conditions, this is typically fully covered.

Private health
Most funds with extras cover exercise physiology, though the rebate varies by fund and level of cover. Worth a call to your fund before your first appointment so you know where you stand. We can process claims on the spot.

No funding, or not sure
Plenty of people just pay for it. Fees are the same either way, and we’ll tell you upfront what a session costs before you book. If you think you might be eligible for something and can’t work out what, ask — sorting that out is part of the job, not an extra.
